Mommy Van’s Cooking Marathon Record Attempt

Vanessa Oprah—known to her community as Mommy Van—is preparing for A Taste of Cameroon 2027, a 160-hour cooking-marathon challenge celebrating Cameroonian and African food, endurance and the power of community.

The campaign is being developed around the Guinness World Records title for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. Completing an attempt is only the first step: any record result remains subject to the official rules, evidence review and final verification by Guinness World Records.

Meet Mommy Van

A home cook carrying Cameroon in every dish

Vanessa Oprah is a Cameroonian home chef, food content creator and mother based in Canada. Through Mommy Van’s Kitchen, she teaches authentic Cameroonian, African and intercontinental cooking with clear, beginner-friendly guidance.

Her cooking-marathon journey grows from the same purpose as her recipe platform: to preserve food heritage, make African cooking more accessible and give home cooks the confidence to begin. The attempt is not only about endurance; it is a public celebration of the people, ingredients and stories behind the food.

  • Heritage: honour the depth and diversity of Cameroonian food traditions.
  • Teaching: show that traditional dishes can be explained clearly and cooked confidently.
  • Representation: place African home cooking before a wider global audience.
  • Community: build the attempt with volunteers, supporters, partners and viewers.

From planning to verification

How a record attempt works

The final event plan will follow the personalized guidelines supplied for Vanessa’s record application, plus applicable venue, food-safety and local legal requirements.

1

Planning and readiness

The team confirms the venue, equipment, ingredients, menu, safety plan, volunteer shifts, qualified support, witnesses and evidence systems.

2

Official start

The attempt begins at the published time under the required observation and timekeeping arrangements. The public schedule and access information will be posted before the event.

3

Continuous record-counted cooking

Vanessa performs the cooking activity counted toward the attempt. Supporters may assist only with approved non-record activities, in accordance with the official rules and event safety plan.

4

Safe service and community engagement

Completed dishes are handled according to food-safety requirements and the confirmed serving or distribution plan. Visitors and livestream viewers can follow the journey without disrupting the attempt.

5

Evidence submission

Required logs, time records, witness statements, video and other evidence are organized and submitted. The exact evidence package depends on the official record guidelines.

6

Independent verification

Guinness World Records reviews the evidence and determines the official result. Until that review is complete, the outcome should be described as an attempted or completed challenge—not a verified record.

Volunteer boundary

Volunteers are essential to logistics, sanitation, hospitality, media and other approved support. They must not perform any cooking activity that the official guidelines require Vanessa to complete herself.
